I have a B187 S60XL and it leaks hydraulic oil from the starter. I've read the other posts on this subject and found a video on an H model where the customer adjusted the scavenger tube to stop the leaking. I have the complete manual for the A-C 187 models and am looking to see if there's a way on these S models to fix the hydraulic return other than placing a ball valve in the steering return line. I removed the engine and trans cover and there's a black circular cover with a single bolt in the center and an arrow showing how to spin the cover off. I don't see an access like this in my manuals and it is right next to the oil return line form the bell housing. Is there a way to post a photo on this site to show what I am looking at? Serial number is B187V03431M. The forklift works perfectly and only leaks when the truck is turned off. I am also wondering if running the truck for a minute after the forks are lowered would give it a chance to clear out the extra oil. I usually lower the forks and then turn off the engine simultaneously. I have not removed the starter to check seals. It seems that unless I fix the excess oil issue the seals will just go out anyway.
