timing advance on distributor?
yeah it may have some affect on it.
either a vac leak or just not advancing properly might cause it to not accelerate fast enough. Generally it would just stumble a bit though during accel and then pick up, but yeah, check the vac holding on the diagphragm. Make sure the movable plate inside the distributor is moving when it is activated.
