In January 2021 Toyota automotive paid a $180 million fine to EPA for emissions violations. Wonder if EPA started poking around the forklift division after seeing what was going on in automotive...

Between 2005 and 2015, Toyota failed to follow proper reporting procedures for emission-related issues with its vehicles in the U.S. market, according to a settlement it just reached with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Reading that story it seems the automotive division issue was largely a paperwork/reporting issue, not a VW situation, it is crazy the level of power the Feds have with this sort of issue...
