Hi Ifixit,
Sorry for the late reply, you were spot on with the brushes, I cleaned them out and all working like a charm, been using it a few times and the batteries are still holding their charge, I stand amazed on that one... Once again thanks for the pointers.

"Unicarriers - it would have to be for a dual fuel unit also. Usually a bad cam or crankshaft sensor will throw a E-27 or a E-28 code on the dash panel... If it does not light up and the bulb is bad then it will not start also."
