i have this hilo in the shop and today we found out the main mast bearings are going bad, 1 is loose already. i have been in maint for 40 years but never had to deal with the mast on a hilo. so the boss asked me if i could repair it and i said i did not know. so is there much to this? is that any videos showing how to get it done? i'm thinking if i lift the forks up and place a stand under the outside sections that the carriage section will be able to lower down far enough to get to the bearings but before i start the learning curve i figured i would ask. my guess is the boss is going to want to call in the man but then again i may be able to do this without much difficulties. so any suggestions on doing this? i have no manuals on this truck. i have done brakes axles starters hoses cylinders and steering but never bearings inside the mast. and as long as i'm there changing out the other 2 sections might as well be done. i'm thinking as i see no mounting from the outside area that the bearings are mounted from the inside and they may slip over bosses? thanks for any help in this area. bp.
