For the most part of my 41 years in the lift truck business I thoroughly enjoyed it. But glad I got out when I did, didn't want to ride out another recession that smelled a whole like 1981 all over again but worse. IMO the hoops started coming off the barrel in Georgia in mid 2007 when the housing market shutdown like almost overnight. Folks in DC said it started in 2008 nationally - but they are always late to every party but the first to leave.
I was thinking more "you shake my nerves and rattle my brain", you're kind of job drives a man insane...

saying within the Japanese business culture:
"Rumor is just rumor, fact is just fact. Forget the rumors and deal with facts."
Too often people do it the other way. The top level folks know the facts the rest is conjecture.
Worked for MDI/MCFA for 11 years & Komatsu Forklift another 5 years - they both sang the same song.

PS: Glad I hung up my lift truck spurs after 41 years in 2007.
The lift truck industry reminds me of a hit song title by Jerry Lee Lewis from 1957 (just stated my acne years & girls were cool) >
"Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On"
how has mcfa done in LA market with their factory store there?
I know some of the Techs at Equipment Depot, Good techs. My dealings with their parts department is real good. Second to none in my book. But you watch, these will be the people they let slip through their fingers. BUT the lift truck industry is hurting for qualified people. Any pain caused by this buyout is going to be short lived and only going to bite them in the as- in the long run.
Tried to get with them in S Jersey/Phila market
Different sales mgr, reg'l mgr consistenly over 5 years. Same HR people, is it any wonder! In construct'n rent'l biz then out of it then back in? Clark/cat then cat/mitsu.
Does it talk like a duck! Sounds like the art of deal will take some doin. All bout good people
Thanks Chuck
Lots of questions on this deal
1- What happens in north Texas where Equipment Depot is a Clark/Doosan dealer? Who is the next Clark dealer? Who is the next Doosan dealer?
2- Assuming Equipment Depot in Texas goes Mitsubishi, does the Mitsubishi line get taken away from Darr?
3- Does Darr get **** off and walk away from MCFA?
4- What happens to key Equipment Depot employees? Do they go work elsewhere? Or start their own dealership?
