Discussion:
No start from platform controls, service bypass it does work, ground control start function works

hi guys i have a strange problem with this S80/60.
it will not start the engine from the platform controls.
the ground controls it starts normally, i can put the machine in service bypass mode with the service bypass switch and it does start from the platform.
i have worked on the stack switches on the ground control and replaced all of them, found one bad on the ground/platform switch but after repairing that it did not affect the starting control from the platform.
i did hook up webgpi and it does show me pushing the button on the platform controls but the tcon is not activating the start relay. The webgpi verifies the platform is sending the signal. All the connections on the connectors are good, my issue i'm almost certain that the problem is in the tcon board but was wondering if anyone else may have encountered this issue before.
The schematics do not break down the start control circuits well enough to determine the circuits beyond the switches, after it goes into the tcon there is no information on how the system actually triggers the start relay, there are points in the schematic that just say 'to micro' which i'm assuming is the microprocessor circuits on the tcon.
Anyone have any ideas?
I would like to know for sure since a new tcon board is over $5K now.
Calling genie is not a current option at this point since they have changed their policies when dealing with anyone, even dealerships when it comes to machines over 10yrs old. They are now charging for any technical service on older machines like that. All of my customers i've explained this to refuse to pay extra for the service they are already supposed to be getting from the factory.

thanks for the response matthew.
start 'signal' wire for the start relay has to be good or it wouldn't start right?
that's just it, it does start, in ground mode it starts perfectly.
in platform mode it will not start when the service bypass switch is in run mode, but when you switch it to service bypass mode it does start normally.
the path to the starter relay from the tcon is the same circuit in either ground or platform modes.
The difference is the circuits going to the tcon. according to webgpi both circuits are working, the platform signal is coming in to the tcon according to what webgpi shows me.
I know what your talking about and that affects starting overall from either control panel, i had a z135 with that issue before. This one is different.
appreciate your input though. Maybe the genie guy you know can confirm my suspicions about that tcon being the problem.

Would start basic, have found break in signal wire for start relay in harness in the past, start from relay and back probe up to output of start button at box...if not reach out to see if anyone has a old S80 for that tcon...I'll reach out to a Genie pro I know Monday to see what he says
