Clark GCX30:
No brakes

Model# GCX30 S/N# GX230-0031-9158
We cannot seem to get any brake pedal resistance. We have changed the brake master cylinder 2 times. The system has two master cylinders one for the brakes and one for the inching. All the parts at the wheel end are new- Wheel cylinders, axle seals and shoes. There are no leaks. We have tried a power bleeder. We have a hard time believing that we have recieved two bad master cylinders in a row. Anyone out there with a suggestion of what we are missing.

sounds crazy but pull the boot back on the top of the mc and fill the back side w brake fluid. works about 2 out of 10 times. all it does is improve the backstroke suction and sometimes thats all it takes.

mrfixit is exactly right, you have to bleed theses from the bottom up, and it also helps to bounce the pedel while doing it too. I recently replace a defective M/C on one of these, it was only a few months old, I realized that the M/C was defective when I tried to bleed it as described, and I couldn't get any fluid to flow up past the master cyl. Also I would advise to never push the pedel all the way to the floor until the system is fully bled.

Those things are real tricky to bleed. The best way I have found is to get a new pump type oil squirt gun and fill it with brake fluid. Hook it up with a hose to the bleeder on the wheel cylinder and pump it. Pushing the fluid in and UP to the master cylinder gets the air out. BTW that has to be one the worst brake/inching systems going.

Not from my experience...talking while I was around someone fixing this same series truck...The adjustment in the pedal linkage is very critical...

Fact of the week
Dublin's Sean O'Casey foot-bridge is a swinging bridge which opens to allow ship passage. It was unable to open for four years from 2010 because the hand-held remote control was lost. Finally a new remote was developed and the bridge opened again in 2014.

In this week’s Forkliftaction News we look at two topics coming out of LogiMAT 2025 held in Stuttgart in March. The first was the large increase in exhibitors coming from China who are making it clear they have their sights set on markets outside of China (see story). The second is a closer look at what was the main theme of the trade show - the growing rise in automation, how it is changing the sector and how enthusiastically it is being embraced by younger generations...
