Discussion:
New Forum Layout putting people off

Not sure what anyone else thinks, but i am not sure about the new forum layout, i use google chrome it may look on others browsers but to me its not as clear and i prefer the older layout/style. I understand times move on and things change. But i'm sure about this layout/style.

"Have An Exceptional Day!"
Today is the day!
We have been working on a lot of modifications to the Forum layout and as promised we have now launched a much-improved version.
Please let us know what you think.
The changes:
* Much more intuitive design
* Restructured content in the pages for improved usability
* Improvements to the Forum SEARCH functionality and lay-out of results
* 2 new features which will assist our technical trouble-shooters:
1. A new page with the 'Most recent posts' listed exclusive for the technical trouble-shooters.: https://www.forkliftaction.com/forum/active_today.aspx?foid=9
(Find a link from the Technical Troubleshooting forum: https://www.forkliftaction.com/forum/forumbybrand.aspx
2. Choose to receive emails about new posts related to your 'favourite brands': Select your favourite brand from the brand page (https://www.forkliftaction.com/forum/forumbybrand.aspx) and tick the notification email option at the top of the page
We have also;
* improved the content of these emails so that they better inform the reader about the post it is related to and
* fixed an issue related to the use of URLs in posts.

I think the major piece of progress is that now the Discussion Forums are very usable on mobile phones. I imagine this will be a significant assistance to users of the tech Forums.
Thank you to all who use the Discussion Forums and a special thank you to all those generous people who help with specialist advice.

Thank for the update admin, i also think the trouble shooting would be better in date format, where the latest post commented on is at the top. If someone has a new problem they put a post on and people can try and help. There is no easy way to see what is the latest post if people need help. List in make and model just doesn't work. Just my opinion. Maybe i am doing something wrong.

Sorry for the inconvenience, we are working on modifications to the Forum layout as we speak and will launch a much improved version in a few days time.

We are very aware that these Forum Discussions are a wonderful tool for engineers and technicians in particular. The old format was dated and even though it was easy to use on a PC it had a lot of draw backs that needed to be fixed to make the Forums an even better tool for everyone.

In particular the old format was not responsive and could not have been used on other devices. We want to provide a Discussion tool for you that can be used on all devices and mobile phones especially. In fact that was one of the key drivers that lead us to completely overhaul the structure of the website. We had to get that rebuild done before we could upgrade the Forums section and you will recall it is only 7 weeks since the website launch.

We took a lot of advice and believe you will be very happy with the new format. Please be patient for a few more days and then we would love to hear your constructive comments again.

I agree also, seems like when something works real well, somebody will come along and fix it. Never fails

I agree, I think it looks rubbish compared to the old layout, it does not look a professional layout at all and navigation is not good, I no longer really look much at the forums much as its not in a clear format.
