Clark NP300D40:
Lift system issue

I have a narrow aisle Clark forklift of unknown age that cycles the contactor when it gets to the second stage. The forklift sits unused for months at a time. It is in rough shape, but it's hardly used and has been fine for the past few years. Last time I used it in May, the lift worked fine in all the stages, but the contactor was cycling some if I move the control too quickly.

The contactor cycles if the control is pulled too quickly. So if I activate the control a little, the contactor won't cycle and then I can engage the control fully without issues. As of this weekend, it starts to cycle when it gets to the second stage.

If I manually close the contactor and then activate the lift, it sounds like the pump is really struggling. But it doesn't bog down under load in the first stage. Is the pump bad? Why does it seem to work fine in the first stage?

The battery is at the end of it's life, but still seems to work fine for 30-60 minutes of use. Maybe the battery isn't producing enough current though?

I'm emptying the space and selling the building. The forklift will get sold or scrapped. There are only a few more racks to unload, so I'm reluctant to invest anything into this lift.

Any suggestions for how I can get this working long enough to unload the last few racks?

I'm inclined to say battery voltage may be the issue.

It's the battery. Just too old and not putting out enough power.

Architect Gustave Eiffel originally submitted his design for the Eiffel Tower to Barcelona but the city rejected it for aesthetic reasons. As we know, he had more success in Paris, however, his plan was far from popular at the time.
