We just had factory training on Komatsu units and they are aware of problem on motor mounts. They were designed to give in case of motor coming into contact with immovable object. They said something about installing a pin. I'm thinking you can insert bolt into elongated hole to keep engine from sliding backwards. But I personally haven't had to face that problem yet. This was from other tech that attended school.

We work on anything and sometimes we fix something!
hi paul. it is on the fg25st-16 and ive seen it from 500 hrs and up. when your looking at the motor mount the stud that goes through the frame mount on the bottom side the frame mount and the spacer thats installed the holes are elongated allowing the engine to shift back. also on the top stud that bolts onto the engine mount you will find you can undo them with one hand! i will be very surprised if you take a close look at this and have not have any shifted especially in the hour range yours are in
thanks paul.

I have approx 40-60 FD&FG25HT-16'S hours ranging as high as 2400. what models are the trucks your having the problems with also what kind of hours are you seeing the problem. I can contact my rep and see if he is aware of this diff issue. I have -16's leaving daily for cherry harvest, If you trucks are FG25HT-16'S I will pull some in the shop and inspect motor mounts. Pls advise.

thanks guys! i am aware of the driveshaft bulletin and then they spraypainted the bolts after that problem, but it's the actual motor mount bolts loosening and allowing the engine to shift back therefore pulling the yoke out of the diff! on the -14 the snap ring on the clutch drom breaks and jams up the transmission.
have contacted komatsu canada not much tech support over there though.

Komatsu had released a technical bulletin 8/4/2006 reguarding -16 trucks drive shaft u-joint bolts. (bulletin# TB2006-007FC) The bulletin required inspection of all 8 drive shaft u-joint mounting bolts. All bolts needed to be torqued to 29 ft-lbs (348 in-lbs). I have a large rental fleet and found most if not all were not properly torqued from the factory. If you would like a copy of this bulletin contact me at 509-577-0500 ask for Paul Martin in service dept. As far as the trans problems with the -14's I have never lost one yet..
