Discussion:
John Deere Service Advisor can't change models

I'm experiencing some issues with the John Deere Service Advisor 5.3 version software. I connected to a 450J dozer a month ago and it seems like the software still thinks I have a test or calibration running. Today, when I tried to connect to a 5085E tractor, I keep getting an error message saying "A Test or Calibration is running. Please finish the Test or Calibration before attempting to disconnect from the diagnostics connection." I've tried powering down the laptop and logging out, but the situation remains the same. I can't seem to figure out which program (test or calibration) the software thinks is still running. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen that "A Test or Calibration is running..." hang on SA 5.3. What fixed it for me:

Disconnect machine + close SA completely.

Kill background services: stop SA Client/SA Communication Manager in Services (or end ServiceAdvisor* tasks in Task Manager).

Clear temp/session data: delete %ProgramData%\Service Advisor\* session folders and %ProgramData%\Service Advisor\Logs\* (keep backups if you want).

Reboot laptop, then connect to the original machine (the 450J), open Tests & Calibrations and explicitly hit Finish/Abort on any active job.

If it still sticks, remove the cached connection: Device Manager ? Network/COM entries used by SA ? uninstall (check "delete driver software" if applicable), then reinstall your adapter driver and reconnect.

Side note: I moved to Service Advisor 5.4 you can buy from here: (https://machinecatalogic.com/john-deere-service-advisor-5-3-construction/)
and haven't hit this issue since-5.4 cleaned up the stuck-session problem for me and works with Nexiq USB Link 3 as well as EDL.

According to studies published in the English Journal of Medicine, the impact of daylight savings is revealed by a 24% increase in heart attacks on the Monday following the spring shift forward. When clocks move back in autumn, heart attacks drop by about 21%, suggesting that loss of sleep is an important driver.
