Discussion:
intermitant lift problem

Upon first arrival, lift would only work about 2% of the time. Lift contactor would not engage, no engage signal. Traced and checked wiring,ok. Tested lift switch,ok. Traced signal to TB5 interrupt switch box, signal in but no signal out. Replaced interrupt switches and diodes in TB5 box. Now lift works about 98% of the time. The tilt thumb switch does not appear to be sticking. Anybody come across this issue before?

the retractable overhead guard has some switches to keep you from lifting too high with no overhead protection, these may be your problem, have you checked their operations?
truck_tech's question about the contactor armature pin is still valid and can not be accurately checked without disassembling the contactor (and already knowing what you are looking for) to confirm the guide pin is still in place and correctly guiding the armature stroke. however if you are not getting a positive signal to the contactor coil then the search should begin with that signal.

"it's not rocket surgery"
It does have the retractable o/g and a thumb button switch to over-ride the lift for tilting.

Contactor operates freely, gives a solid pull-in and tips are not burned. Motor tests and checks good. The problem seems to be the signal. I get none to the lift contact when I should.

Is there any mechanical binding of the lift pump motor contactor? Is the armature guide pin broken off(common problem)?

Fact of the week
At the opening ceremony of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932, marching bands were instructed to walk out of step as they crossed the bridge. This unusual directive was given as a precaution due to concerns about the bridge's structural integrity during its early use.
