Have a customer with a few of these and we've been told that a lot of the codes that come up are not listed in the service manual and the tech then needs to contact Hyster to figure them out, and yes these units have the G.M engine

know them well, funny how the first compliant engines had these "trim valves" w/ the adjustment screw, looking to range from 0-5 vdv @ idle when in the diagnostic plug(4 flat) w/ your meter. the newer ones dont have adjustment provisions.
now, we cant remove plug and adjust, (per, epa), we have to order new, adjust, then hammer a cap in, loving it, we arent even supposed to remove cover off carb., sorry mixer, and check diaphragms, epa violation, same carb, same diaphragm, taking our adjustments away from us.
this is all fine, wait untill our units are out of warranty, we are going to have very *%*&cheesed&&%^ off customers when they have to pay for all this ***stuff**& !!!! somewhere, someone forgot moving a load from point A to point B is the reason for forklifts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nj.d.

there is also a trim valve problem with a couple mazda engines, but the factory has addressed the problem, as with any new line there will be a couple problems i think they have done a great job with the fortis/veracitor. our company has sond quite a few of these trucks and only one company has complained about the trucks... they wanted to slow them down and didnt get the package to do that.

Oh yah, there was/is a cold starting problem with some units.
It's a software problem and was mostly fixed via a firmware update.

We have experienced a few teething electrical problems.
Almost every time, it worked out to a pin in a connector that wasn't quite clicked into place.
We have had no tranny problems thus far.
We are changing our rental fleet over to Fortis's.
We have had a heatshield cracking problem on EVERY Fortis truck with the 2.0 Mazda. All taken care of under warranty.

We have not had the issues yet with the transmission , nor the electrical system , I have heard this rumor before , we have a fleet of over 50 units in the rental side and so far so good.We Will keep everyone informed if we run into issues with the fleet.

From what I have heard you are lucky to keep the things running. They are having transmission problems and massive electrical malfunctions that take the machine completely out of service. If the machine goes into default and quits running it will lock up and dump any load that you are moving.
Everyone that I have spoke with is sorry that they wasted their money

I have tryed the gm. It is everybit as peppy as the old 3L
the new fortis is very smooth and responsive

GM 2.4l is available in both Hyster & Yale trucks from 4000lb - 7000lb trucks.

Could you tell me if the fortis truck has a filter anywhere between the Lp regulator and the injectors? The older CARB2 trucks have one going to the start/idle injector. Its a small 3 port type of unit.

You help would be greatly appreciated.

Craig, why has Hyster/GM dropped down to a 2.4L engine? What is the rated HP of the Gas/LP?

We have received one of the gm powered units and it has good power it's rated as a 2.4 liter versus the old 3.0 liter , this is going out on demos and it is attracting lots of attention and lots of operators asking their boss to buy these units. these units in gas or lpg are fuel injected so they make good horsepower and should be very reliable.let me know if you need anymore info.

Does anyone know what sort of fuel system the Fortis is running on the Mazda engines? Is it similiar to the 2004 models? Anyone have some pics of the engine, spcifically the fuel system. I am very curious about the system they are running.

Well Craig, let me be more specific. Have you or anyone reading this post actually received a new Hyster Fortis or Yale Veracitor with a GM engine? Ordering them is one thing, receiving them is another. A Yale rep told me almost the EXACT same thing that you said about the Mazda's. He said that "Mazda has made great strides regarding H.P." He also said that the GM would not be available for the 4,000 to 7,000 lb. trucks. I am not at all emplying that that this is fact. I am just curious because as far as I know, no one has received one as of yet. Hyster has always had great success with the GM's in this capacity. The Mazda has not been an engine of choice when running ramps or in clamping applications. The 6,000 to 6,500 lb. Hyster XM's were considered to be under powered even with the upgraded Mazda 2.2L. The Mazda 2.0L was almost never sold in the 6,000 to 6,500 lb. XM due to the lack of power.

The GM engine is being put into the units , and our dealership has bought some to put into our rental fleets , but i will say this for the line , the mazda seems to have made some strides in the power department , the new mazdas are almost as good as the old gm units for pulling grades...I will keep you posted as to the updates as we receive the units in

Tim, I assume that you are either a Hyster rep or a Hyster customer and have first hand knowledge of the new line. Have you seen any in operation yet? What about the GM engine. Both Yale and Hyster have promoted the "Performance" truck with the GM. Any truth to the rumor that the GM will not be available?
