Working on a truck which the hydraulic steering isn't working but lift/tilt work. With the rear end off the ground the wheels turn, but still with difficulty.
With the key in the in position the hydraulic pump spins constantly but doesn't ramp up when the wheel is turned. Checked fuses, good. Swapped out the sensor on the column above the orbital, no change.
Any info on what to check from here would be GREATLY appreciated.

Since you have hydraulic functions, suspect the steer contactor is not operating. Without a serial number, not sure what your forklift options are. You should have a separate steer motor and pump. Make sure all fuses are good. Remove hoses from steer cylinder, plug one hose and connect gage to other. Hit steer relief briefly and check pressure. If it is not between 1250 to 1500, either motor is not operating or pump, pressure relief has failed. Thanks.
you'll have to check the pressure at the pump.
it may have a pressure sensor mounted on it, remove the sensor and fit a pressure guage (may need an adapter). the pressure should read 1250psi when steering is turned to the stop and held briefly. if you get any readings higher check the relief valve, if lower then the pump is most likely worn out or faulty.
Also check the bearings and pins in the steer axle, try greasing them if there are grease zerks.
