Discussion:
Hydraulic oil foaming up on lift

I replaced the hydraulic motor & pump, also replaced the main hose coming from the tank & I also have replaced the o-ring on top of the pump for the suction flange. I am still getting foam when I lift the forks up & down, foams out over the breather, not sure where to go from here.

Hi Duke, check the O ring that seals the pump to the motor, a few years ago i had the same problem and found the O ring damaged and thus drawing air into the system. Best regards Ian

Hi Duke
It sounds like you have cavitation this is caused by air being sucked into the system before the pump, you will need to check again your suction pipes and the correct fitting of the suction filter.
Check the filter is located correctly. The filter should be pushed into the neck then put into the tank.

Also the oil should really be grade 32 for the electric Linde range.

cheers herald.

using iso grade 68 oil, pump isn't making a wierd sound, the suction filter is in place, I will double check the plastic tube & filter to be sure though, oil levelseems to be just right when the mast is all the way up there is just enough oil so it doesn't *** any air.

hmmm, havent experienced this yet. hints:
Did you use the right oil?
Does the pump make strange sound?
Is the suction filter in place?
Is the plastic tube (filter housing) intact?
Maybe the oil level is too high? The tank is demensioned for the highest mast possible. If you have a lower mast you dont have to fill it all the way, only just enough for the mast to go up.
