Any advice would be thankful I have a fork lift that has the forks drop quite quickly to the floor. no external leaks found. rebuilt the control valve with no issues found there either. Any ideas that I can try with again be very thoughtful cylinders have no issues as well

The machine is direct via levers. I found the ram was damaged at the lower end hidden by a mounting bracket.
Is your machine direct drive on hidraulic controls (mechanical) or by joystcs and proportional valves?
Just to add a little tid bit happen to me with hyd.system.We had the down drift all the time new valve, packing etc.... the problem cold storage was used 100% we cut with std.hyd oil 20% probem cured
Later...
In a deeper inspection we noticed in the back of the right lifting ram a large dent like someone wrapped a chain around the mast to pull something causing the leak down. Only saw this damage after pulling out both rams. new ram is now on order. I thank you all for your much needed assistance
For the cost of getting a packing kit and to reseal, you might as well reseal them instead of the hassel and the stress and safety. If the control valve isn't bypassing its definitley the cylinder packings
I have done several tests and the forks fall intermitantly sometimes they hold the weight. I will be doing the inspection that daniel sugested I will keep the posts coming all they way to the fix is done
If the cylinder has top return lines, then it is simply a matter of lifting to full height removing the return lines, lowering and then lfting again and see how much oil you get out from the return pipe on the cylinder. Bearing in mind there should normally be only a small amount of oil and a large amount indicates a leak and will tell you if the cylinder(s) are leaking internally.
Piston seals. Lowering cylinders do not always leak oil. Pressure control valve is another option.
I would reseal the lift cylinders
The bearings have been replaced within 1 year and mast rails are slightly worn. I never thought of isolating the rams. I am going to try a shut off valve in the flow line to the rams to see what happens. The way I see it, if the rams still lower the rams are at fault if the don't it is the control valve
A forklift lift and lower system is pretty straight forward...the only 2 things i could automatically could come up with is that either cylinder packings are dead or oil by passing in the control valve.
I would try putting a guranteed shut off valve between the main control valve and cylinder and completely isolate it the 2.
you may wont to check the carriage roller bearings and side roller bearings. sounds like you could have some that are bad. Also, Ive only seen this a few times but make sure the channel is not warped. One other thing, you might want to check chain adjustment
