Hi. I'm an EE specializing in Lithium batteries. I know not all Lead-Acid chargers are compatable with all Lithium batteries, and it matters. In this case the voltage for FLA matches up pretty closely with the Lithiums, and equalization is not necessary, nor will it work (the batts will detect a higher voltage and shut off). It will charge them more slowly than an equivalent Lead-Acid in the last 20% of the charge, but that's okay - they just need an overnight charge.

It's quite possible there's something wrong with this charger however, and I'm not familiar with it - slightly intimidated, actually - so I thought I'd see what some common issues are, so I know where to look. Thanks.

Battman,

LI batteries charge at a different rate than lead acid. You should talk to the charger and battery reps to make sure they are compatible. Good Luck.

The hard to do we do right away. The impossible just takes a little longer.
Hi. Thanks. We are putting a Lithium battery into a pallet jack. I'm mot sure if the charger was working previously, so will keep you posted.

Battman,

Go to hobartparts.com/manuals, they list multiple manuals and contact info that should help. Make sure to check all fuses, including any around the control board. Do not put a higher amperage fuse in as this could possibly damage the charger. Good Luck.

Fact of the week
Brothers Adolf ("Adi") and Rudolf ("Rudi") Dassler split their shoe company after WWII due to a bitter feud, and established the rival companies of Adidas and Puma. Their personal animosity and business rivalry divided their German hometown Herzogenaurach. The town became known as "the town of bent necks" due to the intense loyalty to each brand.
