Toyota 8FGU25:
hard start, lazy rev and hot hydraulic oil

This machine would not start. After reading the threads, I removed throttle body and motor, cleaned, replaced gasket, removed the small injector at the base of the trhottle body, cleaned and installed. Engine started but is really lazy in revving the engine. After idling for approx 20 min and barly using the hydraulics, I could barely touch the hydraulic tank, the oil was that hot. Also noticed the mast would creep up. The engine does not sound like its under load and hydraulics work. I'm fairly certain that I have a faulty relief valve, but considering the price want to know of anything to check. I have the control valve o the bench installing new tilt spring and orings.

A faulty relief valve wouldn't cause the forks to creep, it can cause the oil to get hot if it's constantly bypassing. If this were the case the hydraulics would be very lazy & I doubt if it would lift it's rated weight. Sound like a restriction in the main hydraulic circuit (kinked hose, restricted filter in the return line, etc).

This could cause the engine to be lazy if the restriction is strong enough.
