Unicarriers (& Nissan) KPH02A-25V:
front tansmission seal blowing out

I have five of these units and every one at one time or another has blew the front seal out. I believe that we might have found the problem but was wondering if anybody else has had the same problem? Also we have a problem with the fluid turning black and we have adjusted everything as the book says to. We change the fluid every 500 hrs. and still the problem still exist. Any answers?

I was talking to some service techs they all agreed. Are these units being used as Bull Dozer's??? Pushing skids??? Sounds like the clutch packs are being burnt out of them causing blackened oil. This would also cause premature wear on your pump and converter hub.

I have changed the cooling lines on a couple of these units and it didn't seem to make a difference. I have been looking at the troque converter and where the inside pump gear is driven by the converter it wheres a grove in the converted hub. This then allows the gear to twist on the hub and if you take a light and look between the converter hub and the gear it opens up an area large enough to let a lot of fluid through to the seal and I am thinking that this might be what is causing the seal to blow out. If I am right then the problem is what is causing the inner pump gear to wear a grove like this in the converter hub.
