Cat Lift Trucks (& Caterpillar) P5000:
fault code reset

gents. i have had a run in with a cat today. fanbelt broke and overheating kicked up E33 on the dash. new belt fitted but code remains. how do you clear the code. tried neg cable off batt for 15 mins but its still there

Never could do the pedal dance.A guy I went to school with hit it every time, me 1 out of 50.I like the laptop method clear codes done.Also if you know problem and have to wait on parts pull cable.Near as I can tell you can do it or you cant.

The procedure is as follows:

turn on key wait 3 seconds (critical time)

tap pedal 5 times (in about 5 seconds)

lift off pedal wait 7 seconds (critical)

hold down for approx 10 seconds until code and hour meter alternate (note: if you start the engine at this time it will go into O2 sensor test and not clear the code)

This procedure works much better when engine is warm. A helpful hint is to either count strobe flashes or use a stopwatch. It is kind of hard to use display flashes as counter.

i had three goes at the pedal dance. press down count to 10 blah blah blah. gave up in the end and arranged for dealer to come in and reset system with laptop.regards

There is a pedal procedure I cant remember but if you can leave the lift siting for about 4 to 6 hr remove batt cable and code will go away
