Raymond EZ-R-40TT:
Fault code F5 and 6G

Working a customers machine and when ever they turn off the key switch and turn it back on they get F5 and it will not self-test. If they trun the key off and back on it will show F5 and then steps to 6G. I'm wondering what F5 code is trying to tell me and what 6G is trying to tell me. Any info will be a great help.

If you turn any Raymond Easi reach off and on real quick, it will code out. You can spend big bucks trying to sort this out. Check for grounds!
Only way to check for heat sink ground is to remove it and check for pin holes.
As usual, we assume you test the battery?

IF the truck you are having problems with does NOT have these options on it, then someone has swapped the VFC or the Display. The original options and configuration for the truck is held in a chip on the display. Verify the serial number that is in the display and what is on the data plate in the operator compartment are in fact the same. This will let you know if it has been swapped. If the numbers are different, then a new display will need to be installed that is programmed with the correct serial number/information and a new "clean" VFC to ensure data integrity.

I am having the exact same issue with an easi truck here. I turn the key, it faults F5. If I turn the key off and on fast enough that the power doesn't completely dissipate from the display, it will self-test, and code out 6G. Then I need to cycle the key one more time, and it will self-test and work properly. However! It attempts to read out load weight, while there is no pressure transducer installed in this truck. 6G is a code for a thermister that is also NOT installed in the truck, but it thinks it is for some reason. I tried faking out the thermister code by shunting JPS6-2 and JPS6-6 with a 2Kohm resistor (70 degrees F) and it gave me a code for pressure transducer out of range. Any thoughts?

The battery hasn't been rolled out in at least a year...probably a lot longer then that...so that is something I will be doing first thing.

Thanks for your help.

do you pull the battery out and clean under it every so often (like every day when it gets charged/changed) or has this battery been in this truck since before color was invented? how clean is this truck?

"it's not rocket surgery"
I think your battery has died on your vfc or some other component on it has failed. I would check the display cable going to the system card for continuity as well as the key switch but probaly not your problem as you consistantly have a F5. If you have another truck close by swap vfc cards if the problem moves with the card u know what is bad. Fyi - there is an e-prom chip mounted in the vfc, it would need to stay with the original truck unless both proms software versions are the same, you can go into config. and check versions. also forgot to mention check the part number on both vfc's and make sure it is the same, there is an old and new style one it is on a white sticker on the inside of the vfc. when you first key on after the swap expect an F-series code as the display has to reprogram the "new" vfc.

Thanks Stam,

So let me twist this just a little...the first time you close the key switch you get the F5...turn the key switch off and back on and step on the deadman pedal you get the 6G code and then turn the key off and on for the third time and the machine goes through self-test and you step on the deadman pedal you get the BDI on the dash and the machine work properly until you turn the key off. So I don't think I actually have these fault but I'm not sure what to do to get rid of these fault displays.

What do you think is going on here.

f5 - internal vfc fault.
6g - lift motor overtemperature.

i suspect the vfc is probaly causing the 6g to appear.
