Discussion:
EV100 settings, for a non-conventional use

This one I know there is probably some answers that are not going to be typical......I'm just looking for a place to start here.

I am building an electric car. I have saved ALL of the electronic components from a old stand up forklift, and am in the process of installing them into a Geo Metro.

I have a GE 6.7" traction motor already bolted up to the transmission, and am ready to start the re-wiring process.

Now, I saved pictures of EVERY wire that was disconected, so I do know where everything goes......

what should my settings be for my EV100? The car will typically be driven in 1st. 2nd and 3rd gear, with an estimated top speed of 30MPH. Curb weight is 1900 - 2000LBS, but gearing is a bit taller than a conventional forklift. Should I be setting my time for the (don't remember what to call it.....) "Up to top speed" very short, or longer? My thoughts were to set it very short, and let the 1A take most of the abuse.........like I said, just my thoughts...

Here is my cards info....

Since the EV100 goes into 1A timer when accelerator voltage reaches 0.5V, I would adjust to the shortest time, as you were thinking.

Good luck on your build Crazy. I converted a '65 Corvair Monza using a GE EV1-D panel, and a drive motor from an old Cat M30. Currently running on 96 volts, it's a little slow - around 65mph top speed. It has the original powerglide transmission. I have the 1A time set high, so it doesn't come in until i want it to - at full pedal. That way when I reach desired cruising speed the controller doesn't try to go into 1A when my "gas" pedal is almost fully depressed. The pot box has a 1A switch at full pedal. I would guess to do the same when using a standard transmission.

Fact of the week
Bluetooth is named after the 10th-century Viking king, Harald Bluetooth, who united warring tribes in Denmark and Norway. In 1997, Jim Kardach from Intel gave the name to the technology because of its ability to unite different communication protocols, just as Harald united various tribes.
