Crown 50FCTT 188:
error "71" No forword or reverse

I have a crown sit-down forklift 50FCTT-188 (year 2001 or 2004) 48 volts system. The lift has 4500 hours and was in good working order. One day we cleaned the lift with pressure washer to remove any buildup acid and dirt. We did over spry the motor and the battery compartment. After that the lift does not want to move (the hoist still works fine). I have an error message "71" when put on drive or reverse. I did dry the lift very well (from any water) and let it sit for few months with no results. Any one knows what code 71 means and how to fix the problem. Thanks very much for the help.

Remove the battery and check the compartment where the cables and wiring passes through it for corrosion and lingering moisture. Still think that mist/moisture in the control panel may have caused other damage. Sometimes you get this code if you install a new card without configuring it correctly...
maybe it just so happens you got this defect now and had nothing to do with washing. Be sure RB contactor is ok and working. check coil ohms and plunger pin. be sure to check that pins are not backing out of PCA plug at oscillator card. (first plug on the left at card) Let us know!!

IThanks for the help. I did locate the green and yellow wire coming from the SCR to the sensor and everything looks good (both wire soldered right). Still same problem code "71" with no drive. I think some other issue related to moisture from pressure washing the lift (I did not spry the SCR or the control panel). The water did only hit the motor area and under the battery.

Regen current sensor input missing. (Green wire)
Check the green sensor wire for an open circuit or loose connection between sensor and pa5. The sensor is located at the bottom left of the scr panel.it should have two wires(green and yellow) soldered right to the sensor. Good luck

NEVER powerwash an electric forklift truck.

You may have destroyed the control card by doing this.

What happens when you drop your computer in the bathtub? Don't ask me how I know the answer to this.

You have likely (but not certainly) caused thousands of dollars in damage to your forklift's sensitive electronics. We can provide the description for code 71 but the whole truck will need to be gone over now to ensure all moisture has been removed before replacing components. If the code is still there in any case you will need a specialist to examine your truck, this is far beyond the skill level of an owner/operator.
