Linde (& Baker) H50D:
Engine will not come up to speed

engine will not come up to full rmp. H50 D 394 series with a VW BJC diesel engine, turbo charged. turbo was built in Nov. just replaced the injector pump and speed sensor. ran compression check and had good compression.

engine will not come up to full rpm and drive will drop out a little over half way. I can play with the hyd lift lever and get the engine to come up to speed and then drive it and it will run full speed. anybody have any ideas.

I want to thank everyone for their help, here is what I found, checked the timing and timing marks lined up, checked point of injection and had to set it but still had problem, checked vacuum and found that if I controlled vacuum to turbo I could get full speed. checked rod on control against another truck and found that the arm was too short, adjusted the nut on arm for wast gate to match other truck and the truck now runs full speed.

Has anyone checked the injection pump timing , once out of preset limits at full revs the engine throttles back reducing milliamps to controller , usually at half speed

Are the revs only going part way up or just going to tick over? For how long it takes it'd be worth checking the ring gear, if there's a slightly damaged/worn tooth it can cause all kind of problems with the revs and it won't throw out a fault code all the time either.
I'm assuming the linde tech checked that the engine hasn't been speed restricted on the traction module?

Look at the possibility that the Hall effect speed sensor in the flywheel housing may be damaged due to a damaged ring gear. It's a simple matter to pull it and check for scoring at it's base surface.

I'm not familiar with your lift or engine, but I've had gas/lp engines exhibit the same symptom when the velocity governor was going bad.

If you dead head the tilt cyl's & then floor the gas pedal will the engine rev to the governed speed?

yes had the local Linde dealer come out, he worked on it for 3 weeks and cost over 3,000 dollars and still doing the same thing. I was hoping someone out there had run into a similar situation and could tell me what they found.

I can work the hyd lift a couple times and engine will come up full speed and then I can drive full speed. but if I start from idle and try it will drop out drive and engine will just rev but not full speed.

Have you had anyone with Pathfinder plug in to check the engine speed is being recognised by the speed sensor or that the accelerator potentiometer is correctly calibrated?
