Raymond R40 C40TT:
Drive Motor Bearings

It seems that I'm having to replace a disproportionate number of bearings in our trucks. It's always the drive-end bearing in the drive motors that go bad. Is anyone having similar problems and any ideas as to the cause?

Any luck with the bearing inspection or need to wait for a bearing to go bad?

Hi Jeff can you describe appearance, wear, discoloration, surface distress or anything that you see wrong with the bearing, how many have you changed? The same truck or several trucks..There are several reasons why a bearing can go bad, but most important how old are your forklifts?

Does your unit has a gearbox.... Have you checked the fluid on it....this can create heat and heat can damaged bearings. ( just a thought)

I should add inspect damaged bearing with magnifier some damaged is not visible to the naked eye...perhaps cutting the bearing to inspect the inside of the bearing...there's always a clue...

As you can see I love finding solutions if you could take pictures and email them I will surely appreciate and perhaps I could investigate based on the pictures of the bearing my email is ic3balandran at yahoo dot com
Last edit I promise I have created face book pg to carry on discussion only for raymond trucks I think is a lot easier to share pics and links and so on look me up at Raymond Action on fb and pass the word plz.

Just a question how are you installing the bearings? I gotta ask...
