Discussion:
Dragging in reverse

I was backing the lift out of my shop slowly I might add and had to switch hands on the steering wheel and in doing so I hit the transmission lever into forward. I immediately knew I had screwed up because when I shifted back to reverse it felt like it was dragging. In reverse you have to give it a lot of throttle to make it move and when it does it kinda jerks back and drags but will move. When you place in neutral it tries to move forward and in forward it moves fine. Linkage all appears good to me. Any ideas??

Sounds like the clutch pack might have failed what oil is in the transmission if it's got red dexron II atf your screwed the transmission will need stripping and the pack plates and seals replacing because the plates will break up. This transmission needs Tractran JD40 oil ive repaired plenty of hyster transmissions where a so called technician has used atf in them

It has been my experience that when this happens, you most likely had the snap ring break on the end of the Clutch pack. If you pull the dipstick out and look into the transmission while in reverse, you will probably see or smell smoke.
It sounds like the clutch plates if forward are not releasing. So the transmission is actually try to go Forward and revere at the same time.
Seen this many times on trucks that got stuck in a hole or something and the operator tries to "Rock" it back and forth to get out. Will break the large Snap Ring on the End of the clutch pack.

Foundling hatches are safe, anonymous drop-off points for unwanted infants, allowing parents in crisis a way to surrender a baby safely without fear of punishment, ensuring the child is rescued and cared for. The concept started in the 12th century, was abandoned in the late 19th century, then reintroduced in 1952. It has since been adopted in many countries.
