It's a war zone. People get killed there everyday. I guess the rules regarding safety do not apply equally between a workplace, and the ZONE!
You are right Kevin, there are no little accidents with that type of lift, spotters on the ground are hard to see.
this is a full capacity Reachstacker. letting someone loose with one of these after 3 days training is madness. sorry to be blunt but its a big machine that can do alot of damage in the wrong hands
dan m, thank you. As always you can be counted on for good solid advice and many people on this forum appreciate any help we can give our international soldiers who are out there in the front line.
Appears like it is a telehandler (zoomboom) but not sure whether there are forks or a container attachment.
Everything is the same as a regular sit-down except the capacity is at its weakest when the boom is fully extended at its lowest height, and increases as the boom is elevated closer to the truck.
Frame tilt should be used BEFORE the boom is extended or elevated.
Boom should not be elevated unless outriggers are deployed, if it has outriggers
Boom angle greater than 40 degrees, the tranny locks up and parking brake comes on
If direction selector is activated within 3 seconds after startup, system must be restarted
Never drive with the boom elevated or extended
And level the frame before boom is elevated.
The rest, teach it as you would a sit-down. Basically, the same rules apply. They have to know how to read the capacity charts, which may be complex.
And from many thousands of miles away, that is the best I can do for you.
Check the operators manual for any further details, if one is available.
I f you have access to the internet, here is the link and it is PICTURED at the bottom of the page
