Raymond EASI OPC30TT:
Code 81

Had to rebuild the handle. New potentiometer in travel, but old one in lift. Throws code 81 intermittently, which it did before I started. Must be going down the garden path.. Help, please! Use small words, I have never worked on one of these in my life! Hehe! Thanks in advance for any info.

The regulators of the Raymond RT35TT stacker for accelerator (1017546/002) and lift (1017546/002) are almost identical and are based on a variometer using a linear bipolar Hall sensor MLX90215, which assumes programming-learning (calibration) through the sensor output. To do this, you need to enter the mode learning through a password.
To adjust variometers with a replaced non-programmable Hall sensor, for example SS49E, you can adapt any variometer based on the neutral voltage value, which is 1.25 V. during the initialization process, when switched on, the state of the regulators is evaluated... The deviation in both directions is (0.5 + 0.5) = 1V. small changes in deviation, in principle, only affect the sensitivity and smoothness of the controller. The smaller the control voltage deviation, the smoother the ride.
The neutral corridor is set to 0.1V in the range of 1.2... 1.3V. Confident operation from 1V down and from 1.5V up. Thus, the deviation can be adjusted from 0.5 to 1 V. If it is less, then it may not gain speed. If more then it will be very sensitive.
If during the initialization of the switch-on the controller does not "feel" neutral === the display will show error 81 (lift) or 83 (accelerator). The error does not disappear by itself. Reinitialization required
In principle, different linear bipolar sensors are suitable for resuscitation of regulators. All the same, you will have to set neutral in the end. For example SS49E in our case had a neutral of 2.62V. Resistive divider 500 + 560 Ohm brought neutral to 1.27V.
Regulator wires are color-differentiated:
Red = + 5V
Black = common
Gray = signal
It is more convenient to diagnose and even more to configure it on the table

You cant adjust the pot on raymoan, it's fixed in place and you need to learn in superword. Other makes like crown allow to adjust manually to center, but not rayray. Factory superword is 2, but most likely someone changed it. If the truck didnt code out with new travel pot, it's very close...but will throw codes until you LEARN in Config with superword password.

Thanks Swoop! Exactly the info I was looking for. I had tried it with a meter, but not in MM. Nubee mistake! Hehe!

code 81 is lift pot out of range

these potentiometers look for a voltage range when operating, the truck manager looks at the voltage to make sure it is centered in that range (in neutral position).
The range these usually look for is between 0.156v and 4.84v for the lift and throttle pots.

Generally when installing a potentiometer in one of these you would need to have the truck already in maintenance test mode for monitoring the voltage of the respective potentiometer. Then unplugging the handle and performing the pot change out, then plugging it back in and setting the pot at the correct voltage range.
THEN running a relearn test on the handle to calibrate the pots to the TMM.
You can also try and use a VOM and guess at the 'center' range using the ohm meter but you would still need to have the units TMM in test mode for the respective pot to make sure it is centered and adjust as needed.

the problem most tech's have when installing these pots is once you get this set and start up the truck, if it does not see the potentiometer centered it will error out as you can see, and getting the truck to enter into any mode for testing or learning will be a challenge as you will have to try and GUESS at where the center is by holding the handle in that spot to prevent it from erroring out while trying to navigate/activate the menu system. a very challenging thing to do. Once you successfully run the learn process on it then the error will go away ;)
