Discussion:
CODE 51 AFTER BATT. SHORT TO FRAME

Truck was being loaded on a rollback and was in operation to hold it in place, driver hooked a chain to the batt and shorted it out to the frame. Smoke came from under cover on the right side. Now has code 51 at startup and only has lift, no drive or power steering, no side shift ,tilt or reach. closed contactor manulally and got all function for a bit but after it was turned off and back on back to code 51 and manual contat closer only drive and lift.with power into EV-T5PS but not out, red control light illuminated with no outhers. I did not see what happened with the short but it is my charge to fix it and we do not have any shop manuals for this truck.

remove the positive cable from the evt5 card and unplug the wiring connector from it and turn the truck on and see if the code goes away if so that will tell you if it is the evt5 card that is the problem.

That is kind of what I thought, from what I was told that is where the smoke came from.
