well proshade,
one thing that helps me with the 'pedal dance' routine is i watch the hourmeter flash, it appears to flash in 1 second intervals so if you use that as your timer to keep count you can hit it easier than if you were trying to watch a stopwatch or count in your head. :o)

meter on 1sec
meter off 1 sec
meter on 1 sec
this type of count

Best time for that is if you have a coil pack down and must travel for a new one it sure beats the pedal dance or dragging out the laptop. You might have a reason to do the 4 hour thing or like me just cant muster the pedal dance.

agree with JP on the 4 hours,am lucky the operator(s) will let me have the truck to PM it or leave me alone long enough to fix it without asking 20 times if its fixed yet,let alone let it sit for 4 hours just to clear a code....if it starts, runs and moves and lifts/lowers its good enough for them.....

pedal dance?
ummm we call it the 'hokey pokey' method for clearing codes
but it looks exactly like the same way we can do it on our trucks
yes its a pain in the butt to get it the first time but once you successfully do it its not so bad.
And yes there are a couple of codes this method will not clear and you do need the laptop to do it.

cough... cough...
unhooking the battery for 4hrs?
who has time to wait for that? not i
>rolls eyes<

"The Pedal Dance"
Turn the ignition switch on with accel. pedal released, after 3 seconds fully depress the accel pedal 5 times within 5 seconds(end in released position). After 7 seconds(timing is very important...1 mississippi 2 mississippi etc....) press and hold down accel pedal for approximately 10 seconds(again timing) until the hour meter starts blinking, release pedal and push down and hold again for 10 seconds) hour meter should be on with no codes showing, shut key off and test to see if codes cleared.

Fact of the week
The dot-com bubble, a period of large and rapid investments in internet-based companies, peaked in 2000 and saw the Nasdaq Composite index rise by 579%. Then the bubble imploded. As the value of tech stocks plummeted, cash-strapped internet start-ups became worthless and collapsed.
