I have looked over the steer switches when I activate the switches the proper contacts open, so I am assuming they are working properly. We also bought the manual ( got it on Friday ) and pineddy is right about it being of little help.
I'm working on a 1980 TM-15S is a cable form. Check steering switches when you flip open the hinge.
I can't get my problem fix because lack of help on the cable form part. I bought the service manual for $148, but no troubleshooting in it.
Clark used Cableform for a little while, we used to swap the entire system out for GE systems due to the problems we had with Cableform.
I am with ya swoop as i have never seen a Cableform controller in an electric. Possible that the steer sensor/ switches are not signallng. I am not familiar with these set up. Weird but could this been an overseas truck?
Yep I am sure. The controller is nothing like a Curtis or a GE and it has a Cableform sticker with the S/N on it. The contactors look to be in good shape and are closing all the way and all fuses are good. I did not work on this truck today but when I get back to it I am going to go thru the cable terminal block at the end of the contactor array. This is the first time I have seen this type of setup. The entire controller/contactor system flips up on a hinge on to the battery and all of the cables to the motors run to a TB on the end.
Thanks Swoop for the reply.
cableform eh?
are you sure its not just a cableform contactor array?
not aware of any lifttruck controllers made by cableform.
it might be curtis or GE, those are the only 2 controllers i've known clark to use, possibly a sevcon or danaher. I could be mistaken though.
but all that aside
generally if you get motor operation when 1A is pressed that verifies the motor is ok. From this point you need to check and make sure the contactors are actually making, check them for wear, dirty (carboned up) contacts, pitted contacts, binding armature on movable arm. Also check drive fuses on contactor panel on bus bars, check bus bars for loose burned (melted) connections.
