Discussion:
Clark electric - forks work but will not drive

Hi everyone. I am hoping someone might have an answer to my situation. I just bought (today actually) a used Clark electric forklift. It was delivered to my warehouse and after being winched off the flatbed it was driven (under its own power) into my building. I was shown that the forks work properly and after having seen it drive into the building assumed that was fine too. Shortly after the guy who sold it to me left, we set about using it and it drove no more than ten feet and simply stopped moving. The forks still continue to move up and down freely but no forward or reverse. I have a large three phase charger but the forklift and the charger are in two different parts of the building. I do have a small golf cart type 36 volt charger hooked up to it for the time being to see if it may just be a matter of charging, but I thought that these were designed to have the forks stop before the battery was too low so it could still limp to the charger. I should also mention that there is no battery gauge present. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!

Depending on the model (I.e. ECS 20 circa 1989). The truck is equipped with an SCR panel behind the rear cover. More than likely, it experienced a PMT event (pulse monitor trip). You could spend a ton of time testing components. If the issue is more apparent at creep speeds check the drive motor brushes and armature condition before we continue.

You're going to have to list the model and serial number to get any ideas.

In May 2023, a Belgian Malinois named Wilson played a key role in the rescue of four children lost in the Amazon jungle. The young children were missing for 40 days after a plane crash that killed their mother and other adults. Wilson tracked the children's footprints, leading the military to their location.
