Calling all UK engineers

I've been visiting this site for a while now and have picked up some useful info but haven't come across many UK engineers to exchange information and gossip with!.
I know from my work that the 'cream' of our industry visits here so lets see a show of hands!!.
I started my career with british rail as was(apprentice engineer for regional railways) and after 5 years in the non skilled sector(driving a forklift mostly)..I landed a job with Jungheinrich in the warehouse I was working in. I moved from there down to devon and to work with Still...then a spell with Linde...now back to Still's...
I still enjoy getting up for work and thoroughly enjoy my job...most of the time...
Now your stories please!..

Hi Andrew,
I don't think you can go far wrong to be honest. As a time served forklift engineer I'm sure you notice the shortage of us!. As far as I know linde need a good bloke down there but not sure what has changed since I left. Are you good with electrics/electronics as I know our Plymouth depot is in need of good engineers as their main man is retiring soon.
All that aside I would say don't worry at all. With your experience you will never be out of work. Their is a small company in Redruth that I exchanged e-mails with that were very interested...
If you want you can call me on 07887676892 and I'll try help you as much as I can.

Hi David,
I'm a field engineer. I spent 5 years rebuilding stills in a workshop then went on the road for linde in cornwall, which I enjoyed to start with but got overladen with eventually. Not sure if it was the way the area was run at the time but felt overworked and undervalued. So am back to the company I worked for previously and now on the road working on stills etc..and quite happy!
I've been to JLG's HQ for a course and was very impressed with their set-up.
So what is it you design?...and whom do you work for?
