Hi,
I have the same problem with BT SWE 160D PTC resistor heats up and displays an error C28. What causes this condition? Thank you for your help.

Yes, of course.

Any extra consumption before the main contactor K10 connection causes the heating in the PTC resistor losing curtis controler its feeding.

This is easy to check, in these cases the PTC resistor is too hot (Caution, you can burn your fingers)

I guess you're talking about 1243 sepex controller, and this fault usualy occurs when emergency push button is activated.

Could be due to a defective battery / juctions between cells or loosen contacs in battery connector. Also should check PTC resistor fitted in main contactor tips.
