As Captain Mannering would say ' they're doomed!' - actually, I think he works there!!! Not a happy place to work - shed loads of former Lex Harvey managers who supposedly know what they're doing are being employed as grand a day consultants. No wonder they're loosing so much money. Apparently Gordon Brown is looking to nationalise them, as their losses make RBS and HBOS look like cattle feed!
Its such a shame for those great people who still work there - and there are many. Alas, their destiny is not in their hands - it is in charge of the Great Lex Management team! It is like having Tony Adams in charge of Pompey - a great idea, but one which clearly is not working. Look what's happened to him - gone! Bring back Harry!!!

Well tugmaster, I tend to agree with your point of view. Would seem a better idea to get some work for your engineers, after all every hour sold is profitable. The axe should fall on the poorly led, motivated and performing sales force first, get some decent ones in then things will move ahead.
think about it.the engineer is the customer first point of contact.he sells more tyres than any tyre manager,he sells more forks and parts than any sales man,he probably sells more trucks than any sales man.his good reputation is what the forklift company survives off..oh and he services and repairs trucks,which is part of the package when you're sold a truck.so why do the upper management numpties think its a good idea to get rid of them?without them there would probably be no buisness.
perhaps they could start to park some of the stuff on the hills around the place , it is a crying shame it all has come to this , but its been said before many times the engineer on the ground is the one that makes the whole thing tick , they seemed to dis associate us guys we were never anything other than a tool for them too use ,they never listened to our comments or recomedations to make things move in the right direction , and selling or hiring everthing up short to gain a fraction of a already thin budget , well the writing was on the wall after that !

well you are right of course , the three muskateers head the show ,Garry sykes runs the show with Richard Close and Greg Mulhearn or they were there when i worked for them , obviously not now of course , i m still trying to get back into work currently ,but hey life moves on !
tail lift as in strapped to the back of a box van. not tailift , dodgy toyota cross breed
well just before i left we all had to do a compresser course,for the underfloor van type (water board etc )and while we were all on that , the tailift section was being formed about 12 engineers with trucks built to do loler inspection s weight testing and repairs , not long after i got out of it , as no overtime and only basic wage , so went on to do
contract engineering , buses and trucks, platforms , was going well until this credit crisis then it just evaporated , so not doing much just now

its only because of the holding company sammonds in the states that its still running i think
they are the main financial arm of the group ,finning new they were runnnig at a loss, and
needed to offload well they certainly did that ok , i really don t think that sammonds new what they were taking
on its cost them a lot of money , and i think they will fall at some stage soon
i use to work for briggs myself and could see the trouble looming back in 2007,when they started doing roadside calls on compressers and the new tailift section,i new then they were in trouble then so it obviously got a lot worse , we had a good team , nice bunch of guys
well thoughts go out to those guys.hope we're ok this year!
