Ok I understand your points and sound like you know your stuff around Briggs but according to sources it's happening. The owners want out

No different skills, mindset and experience. The cost of funding will have a great effect profitability. Briggs being owned by a bank is a massive advantage that HYG won't have. Sorry don't see it other than lunatic and suicidal move.

I think the key thing is they keep what they have today and it's just the same not much risk for them

That's the problem, manufacturing is very different to sales and rentals to state the obvious. Look at the turnover and profit of both companies and cash availability, uthen have s think about core business again. "Do what you know or you will loose money"

It would become the core business overnight if they did buy Briggs though?

Sales are masters of rumour and deception. Don't see it either, it's not HYG core business, why get embroiled in the aftermath of bad deals, too much mess to clear up. Linde never made JVCs work as they wanted. It will finish HYG unless they get it dirt cheap like briggs did when they bought Barlow.

Strong rumours around sales is the deal is already agreed to be completed in January. I don't see it but who knows??

Been quiet lately, covid killed the forum!
Hyster buying us would be a change as for the last few years we have been buying everyone else :)

So local cost saving so they can buy Gwynedd Forklifts?? Not really growth if you can't keep your engineers busy and then buy a competitor...oh well never mind. It must be due to the covid farce.

It's an easy way to wean out the bad wood. All that was required was for managers to actually "manage" ?
As for pinching a few minutes I think that management has forgotten about the 1/2hour they steel off every engineer every day. I wouldn't mind so much but when they charge the customer for the time you've given up it makes my blood boil !
This spy in the cab system is the only system that penalises you for not crashing ! If you brake or take evasive action it lights up and marks you down ! What idiot thought that would be a good idea ?????

Always need to be mindful of costs but an Briggs engineer told me they have gone tracker mad, people getting reprimanded and finished for alleged misdemeanours identified that way. Start cutting from the top! Biggest savings come from those not earning the company cash by the hour.

Never have understood the proven value of rebranding, a tortoise will not move any faster if you call it a hare.

Nothing like not advertising you dealership brands to grow your customer base, bet you lost more than you saved.

Hi, the signage was refreshed after our rebrand in 2018. We saved money on not putting up new Hyster-Yale signage because it didn't contribute to our dealer excellence assessment.

Fact of the week
The origin of "love" as the score zero in tennis is debated, but two main theories prevail. One suggests it's derived from the French word "l'oeuf" (egg) which resembles the shape of the number zero. The other proposes it's related to the Dutch word "lof" meaning "honour" as players might be playing for honour when scoreless.
