I'm hearing Briggs are about to open there well funded cheque book again, and buy out some local competition in selected areas. The rumours are they are looking at a business in the northeast and two in the northwest. Happy days if you work for those company's cause your wages are going up. We've all grown used to the Friday afternoon emails thanking sales people for their work and wishing them well as they pursue their careers outside the company......but this is the twitching zone!
Yep 55 in total, mostly admin staff, no field based employees are at risk right now.
The US owners have apparently pulled the finance plug, so they will have to go to one of the big finance companies and borrow money now.
They are still profitable, just haven't grown as much as they should to warrant so many office based staff.
Load of engineers vans on the car park every time I've been, any idea where engineers are going to?
Also, i bet all 5 (yes 5!!!) Sales Directors are getting twitchy right now!
it's right about the redundancys, most technical roles in the service centre, 4 from parts, quality management and service tech, managers, some from the workshops, 55 in total, all good fun!
I hear this but it only back office staff and Middle management. About 50 in total. When I worked for them Mr Richard Close said in a meeting and I quote " if there are any more redundancy, I will be first to go" that was about 8 years ago and he's still there.
I think the Briggs check book is open only to pay redundancy at the moment. Understand that about 100 have to go across the board. Seems that promises of cake tomorrow to the funder have worn thin.....Not to say they wont buy anything but maybe this is the price to be paid..the livleyhoods of hard working joes and jills. It would be good if there management had the skill to make the company grow naturally rather than buy companies made the efforts of others, then sack off the people who actually know how to run a successful business. Happy days the magic roundabout makes another revolution.
Under the TUPE rules your basic salary will remain the same if you are on more than 26,910. You will be ring fenced until briggs basic catches up to your level.
If you are on less money than briggs pay their guys your wage will go up if you accept changes to your contract.
Briggs seem to be paying just short of 27k to most of their engineers...
Not according to the Briggs engineers I know. Got an idea who one in the North west will be and the engineers I know there will loose money if they were working for Briggs. Wages seem abouth the same whoever you work for and with the shortage of good engineers seem to be on the up, at least one of the big players are offering new starters 26k and as much overtime as they want
