Battery Charger Problem

Model: 15 MT 154, Ser: L24109. When attempting a charge cycle, Charger made some crackling noises and the ammeter Quit, Next day the batteries were all dead, Voltage from 0.8v to 1.6v the batteries are 6v Deep Cycle connected to 12v I re charged them with my car charger, all now holding 12.7v. when i pull up the power cut off handle, the charger pings, then tries again, the power cut off is now down.!!... Help needed to get my fork lift operational, and the charger working again.!! Cheers.
