Discussion:
Battery charged & connected, won't power on

Last week a new employee plugged the battery charger into the forklift connector instead of the battery connector. It remained "charging" over the labor day weekend. Tue morning the mistake was discovered, the battery was then charged correctly and everything seemed to work fine.

Then this morning the unit wouldn't power on at all. Battery has a good charge and all the connections are as they should be.

Suggestions as to where to start looking?

Thanks,
Ed T.

good deal man
glad you guys found it
unfortunatly labor rates are rather high with some dealerships but in the end if the tech is a good one he can save you costly long labor times. (which this guy did) ;o)

Turns out it was the controller distribution card. Fortunately we were able to swap one from another forklift that is down for battery pack replacement.

Already sourced a replacement for $250.

The tech was knowledgeable and friendly, but $143/hr. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet I guess.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Yeah i was afraid of that.
When the crown tech looks at it he may mantion something about it having a protection circuit to prevent damage to the tmm.
Many newer machunes do have this but it's not 100% fullproof.
Lets just hope I'm wrong and it's something less expensive.
Good luck

Thanks for the quick reply. Checked the fuses, no joy.

Guess I'll give Crown a call. :-(

check the main power fuses in the fuse box and also the buss fuses in the main power circuits.
In my experience though when a charger is plugged into the truck connector it usually does bad things to the controller or the truck management module.
Be prepared to call crown on this one ;o)
