Always good to have a chat round the coffee machine, but the danger is that any salesman listening will start to believe engineer / tech banter, magnify / spread it around and before long everyone is absorbed in a downward spiral and not doing any WORK. Doesnt matter if its Barloworld, Briggs or Linde's turn in the barrel, the result is the same. Many things can greatly increase the chances of any company surviving in bad economic conditions that we currently are experiencing, work and focus are two....but acting like a bunch of fishwives certainly isnt one of them!

For barlow to survive hyster will have to get involved as they won't be able to compete with linde
toyota and nissan , nissan will undercut their dealers with A-Let. The Big manufactures won't let their sales drop and in the UK rental is so important so they need barlow to stay competitve

we're not down and out yet dave.with the economic down turn something like this was bound to happen.hopefully the engineers with the experience will survive.as to hyster taking over,thats just coffee machine gossip at the moment...but maybe would'nt be such a bad thing! just gotta see what comes out on the wash now.good luck.

That seems like a good method of getting rid of all the really skilled folks, the skilled employees will have 90 days to find a job with better security, and will jump ship, leaving the deadbeats, that no one wants, that can not find anything else. This will be a wonderful thing to the managers with no clue, since anyone with a clue will leave and not be around to point out how clueless the remaining management is. at least the clueless managers will not have to find some other reason to get rid of the folks that know the difference*.

they are having a 90 day consiltation with staff. the number 150 is the number of losses they expect to have after the 90 days uk wide. from a good bud of mines

I dont understand your post it seems rather cryptic.Its not as if things have just happened overnight.They may have been around a long time,but maybe they have failed to realise when a change needs to be made, a little too late.

BARLOW ARE THE LAST IN THE LONG LINE TO TO LAY OFF THEY HAVE TRIED THERE HARDEST TO MAINTAIN THE HIGH LEVEL OF SERVICE AND YES IT HAS HURT BUT BARLOWS HAVE BEEN AROUND A LONG TIME AND ALWAYS WILL. THE TOOLS ARE NOW IN PLACE AND WE ARE GOING TO USE THEM TO OUR ADVANTAGE
AND GET THE PROPER CONTRACTS THAT WE DESERVE.

I've heard today that Barlows UK have given all staff 90 days notice,can anybody confirm or deny these rumours.It seems that OEM's idea of giving trucks away hoping to make it up on chargeable is catching up,as nobody will spend.
