Discussion:
All cylinders drift down

On my Toyota serial number 62460, all lift cylinders are drifting down. I'm assuming it's some sort of check valve somewhere. Does anyone by chance have a hydraulic schematic or ever ran into this issue before on this lift. They recently had a piston explode in the lift cylinder and metal debris went everywhere in the system, filter and fluid has been changed. I'm sure there's still shrapnel in the system though. Thanks!

Bottom of cyl and most cyls have one
Some screw in and some have a snap ring
If you do have to replace be sure you get same ones they are usually marked with a number on them

Is the pressure relief valve at the bottom of the cylinder or in a manifold block on those trucks? If in the cylinders does each cylinder have one?

That happened on a few Linde lifts back in early 2000 I had several that did that the relief valves were failing causing metal to get into whole hyd system we had to clean all hyd system and we actually had to replace the control valves because the Linde was such close tolerance I hope you don't have a relief valve issue also

Yes I pulled out the control valve took it to a hydraulic shop for a complete rebuild. He sent me pictures, multiple torn seals and even some damage to the spool valves. He found lots of metal debris in there. I will update if it helps. I'm sure it won't hurt it

I read your post l see everyone gave you good advice. I guess l will chime in. I would find the main lift line to the control valve install a gate valve in line raise the mast up then close the gate. see if the cylinders stay up with the gate closed that will tell you if the hyd oil is getting past the control valve. good luck.

Did you replace pressure relief in cyls ?
If not could be your issue also when metal gets into system it gets into hyd control valve you may end up removing and thoroughly cleaning it also

You may have to remove the hyd control valve and thoroughly clean it.in most cases you have to replace, small metal pieces inside could be holding dump valve open did you replace the pressure relief valve in cyl if not that could also be an issue

I'm dealing with the same issue. If you fix it, can you let me know what you did? Thanks!

Pull out down valve..follow the connecting rod to valve body...I'm sure it's not seating correctly, you can attempt to rebuild but I recommend a replacement
