Discussion:
1st time forklift buyer

Hi, I am looking to buy a forklift for my warehouse. However, I need some basic fundamental help in understanding how to go about it. I am not yet looking for buying recommendation but a basic guidance to get started
1. What are some of the imp factors to consider before buying forklift - upon online research I found lifting capacity, height, engine type as important things to consider. But is there anything else that is important?
2. Is finding forklift operator difficult in US? Do I need to 1st find an operator and buy forklift according to his comfort? Or are most operator comfortable with common brand and types of forklift?

1. You're correct about lifting capacity and height. You also have to choose between electric or propane, but keep in mind certain types of forklift are only available in one type of power source(eg: reach type will only be electric). Turning radius may also be a factor depending on your type of warehouse. Can you provide any more detail as to what it will be used for, and duration of use per day/week?
2. Finding an operator shouldn't be difficult. And you can pay to have them certified to operate whatever type of forklift you end up buying, training is done in a couple hour session.
