Australia, Melbourne - September 4, 2025
ICHCA VIC - Luncheon Forum with Mishkel Maharaj, ITC Topic: TBC

Speaker: Mishkel Maharaj, Founder & CEO of Intermodal Terminal Company (ITC).

ITC is Australia's only independent owner and operator of Intermodal Terminals. ITC is a platform company, wholly owned by Aware Super, a $190bn superannuation fund. ITC aims to build a portfolio of terminals with its first being Australia's largest, the Melbourne Intermodal Terminal (MIT). MIT is a multi-purpose terminal and when complete will provide 1 million-TEU capacity in its first phase. This will enable the rail freight industry to grow and it will support a supply-chain modal shift from road to rail.

Fact of the week
Foundling hatches are safe, anonymous drop-off points for unwanted infants, allowing parents in crisis a way to surrender a baby safely without fear of punishment, ensuring the child is rescued and cared for. The concept started in the 12th century, was abandoned in the late 19th century, then reintroduced in 1952. It has since been adopted in many countries.
