Leading engine manufacturer Yanmar has released a list of its diesel engines that are certified for compliance with the European Stage V off-road emissions standards set to come into effect from 2019.
Yanmar has received certification not only for the stricter standards imposed on the 19kW and over range, but also for the newly imposed emissions standards for the under 19kW range.
The new emissions standards to be introduced in Europe are one level stricter than existing standards, and will be implemented over 2019 and 2020, aimed at limiting the impact of emissions and preserving the environment for future generations.
The 24 certified Yanmar models of diesel engines sold in Europe are installed in a variety of industrial equipment.
The new standards come into effect next year, and as
previously reported, more manufacturers are rolling out updated engines.
Forkliftaction News has discovered that the 1 January 2019 introduction point is more of a guideline than a deadline, with authorities indicating that machines with pre-Stage V engines can still be produced after the application date for another 18 months, and placed on the market for an additional six months.
Second-hand machines are subject to the requirements of the legislation at the time they were first placed on the EU market and therefore appear exempt from the requirement.
