wuBump® has developed and patented a plastic shock absorber that clicks on the fork back of a lift truck, reach truck, stacker or pallet truck. The absorber avoids damage to a fragile load (i.e. cardboard, bags, cans, bottles, glass) caused by contact with the steel front face of the fork back.

The wuBump® absorber consists of a plain magnetic base and an upper layer with a flexible fiber structure. This flexible fiber structure deforms around the fragile load and avoids a direct heavy contact between the fragile load and the steel fork back. The fiber structure is resilient and regains its original shape once the load is handled.

In the plain base of the wuBump® absorber, 4 to 5 magnets with threaded stem M6 are integrated. These strong magnets click the wuBump® absorber firmly on the fork back. If wanted, the magnets can be screwed out the wuBump® absorber and can be replaced by steel bolts or clamps.

One year ago wuBump® was contacted by Ikea Heerlen (NL) that was faced with the issue of damage to their cardboard boxes. During internal transport and material handling, the cardboard was damaged due to contact with the front face of the fork back or with the front wheels of the reach-trucks. As customers do not pick a damaged cardboard box, this damage needed to be fixed before the product was ready for sale again.

wuBump® presented several different test samples to Ikea Heerlen (NL) that came to the conclusion that the flexible fiber structure was the best option.

Meanwhile, wuBump® has developed a similar shock absorber to mount on the front face of the front wheel of a reachtruck. Ikea Delft (NL concept store) has tested and purchased these absorbers. This wuBump® absorber avoids collision damage not only to the load but also to the racking or shelving system
