Cascade Corporation proudly accepted a WINovation award for their Wine Barrel Handler from the Wine Industry Network (WIN) last week in Santa Rosa, California. The "Excellence in Innovation" award recognizes Cascade as one of the most innovative companies in the industry. The WIN awards are a part of the second annual North Coast Wine Industry Expo and Cascade was one of just ten companies honored with this award.According to WIN President George Christie, "The goal is to celebrate the spirit of creativity and leadership, and to honor companies and individuals that are using or have developed products and practices that fall into categories such as technologically advanced, environmentally sustainable, socially responsible, and are a positive contribution toward the advancement of the North American Wine Industry."
Cascade's Wine Barrel Handler was designed to simplify the barrel handling process and is ideal for work in caves and narrow aisles. Cascade Product Manager Rick Whiting says, "Cascade has spent considerable time and effort developing a product that would benefit wineries, both large and small. Providing economical and efficient solutions for specific industries is something Cascade takes very seriously." The attachment helps reduce or even eliminate manual handling by allowing the lift truck driver to easily grab a barrel from a stack and move it to the desired location. A 180-degree swinging fork assembly mounted on a full-width traversing frame lets the driver pick up the barrel from either the left or the right side of a narrow aisle. The Cascade Wine Barrel Handler can handle most barrel types and sizes and the fork cradle design includes rollers to aide in the annual spinning of the barrel for mixing.
Cascade makes other useful products for the wine industry as well; Carton Clamps, Multiple Load Handlers, iForks Mobile Weighing Scales, Forward Bin Dumpers, DAGS Magnetic Fork Covers and MaximEyes
TM Driver Awareness Camera Systems, to name a few.
Both the DAGS and MaximEyes
TM camera system were written about in the "What's Cool" section of the December issue of Wine Business Monthly magazine. Bill Pregler reports on new products for Wine Business Monthly magazine and describes Cascade as "A company that identifies a problem and then provides a solution."
