A contractor for a unit of Sino-American Zhejiang UN Forklift Co Ltd is outfitting space in a McDonough commercial structure for forklift distribution and sales office functions.

In a filing with the city, Merit Construction Co of Atlanta, Georgia estimates the interior construction work will cost USD110,000 for improvements of the 13,809 sqft. (1,283 sqm) warehouse area and the 1,730 sqft. (161 sqm) office component.

On UN Forklift's behalf, Merit's Jeffrey A Robinson filed applications for a commercial building permit and a building interior finish permit in early May.

Dallas, Texas-based real estate services firm Lincoln Property Co owns the site within which Merit will improve electrical, heating-ventilating-air-conditioning and plumbing functions.

UN Forklift's manufacturing operations are located in Hangzhou, the capital and largest city of the Zhejiang province in eastern China.

During a March visit to China, managers of UN Forklift told Kasim Reed, the mayor of Atlanta, about their plans to open a small sales and distribution office in McDonough and create about 15 jobs. UN Forklift has 2,000 employees around the world.
