Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Los Angeles have been identified as the four best US cities for forklift operators.

According to online forklift training company CertfiyMe, the four have the best job opportunities for certified forklift drivers.

Chicago is listed because of its strong transportation and manufacturing base and its proximity to Canada. The report indicates a predominance of heavy-duty jobs, and estimates the median yearly wage for a forklift driver at USD29,700.

New York, with its large population and diverse business environments, "offers plenty of opportunities for properly trained forklift drivers", according to CertifyMe's latest analysis. However, there is a warning that over the next 10 years, the number of industrial truck and tractor operations jobs is likely to decrease by about 6%.

Atlanta, the South's largest city, is described as "an underrated market for OSHA-compliant forklift operators". Atlanta is the 17th largest economy in the world and, according to the report, has "an almost unlimited selection of opportunities for employment" for suitably qualified drivers.

Los Angeles job opportunities are related to the large population and advanced transportation infrastructure, including the busy port and interstate highways and railroads. The best forklift jobs in Los Angeles can pay up to USD57,400 annually, analysts report.
