The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) is organising the National Fork Lift Safety Conference on June 29 at Warwick University in the UK.

The conference will cover a range of issues identified as prime concerns by materials handling equipment end users, with a specific focus on operator training.

Mondi Packaging (UK) will present a novel case study relating to operator safety.

It will centre on the benefits of its internal fork lift truck licence and safe driving diploma, short-listed as a finalist in the safety category of the FLTA Awards for Excellence 2005.

Mentor, a training provider, will explore what constitutes the ideal operator. It has profiled more than 1000 forklift and other workplace transport operators about factors that affect their work.

A new, interactive training tool, the Mentor Safetruck Training Simulator, will be available for assessment.

At the end of the conference, there will be an open forum at which experts who have given presentations will answer delegates' questions.

Questions on training should be emailed to the FLTA to ensure they are answered. (Email mail@fork-truck.org.uk and write Training question in the subject box.)

Ticket prices are (inclusive of VAT):

FLTA and Safe User Group members £85.00
Non-members £110.00
